Bislama (2024)
The Little Prince in Bichelamar was presented at the inauguration of the new ‘Emmanuel Watt’ Gallery at the Alliance Française de Port Vila.
Jenny Tasale, the new mayor of Port Vila, Ralph Regenvanu, Member of Parliament, Guillaume Josso, Chargé d'Affaires of the French Embassy in Vanuatu, Christelle Thieffry, President of Green Wave Vanuatu and Georges Cumbo, Director of the Alliance Française all spoke at the event.
The Nature/Culture exhibition, featuring some twenty artists, was enthusiastically received. Musicians Noémie Séverin, Wawapapi, Mars Melto, Onda Roja and Carlos, actress Albane Molinier and juggler Ben delighted the audience.
The Little Prince was translated by Noémie Séverin, Stan Antas and Georges Cumbo. The book, published by the Alliance Française de Port-Vila, will be distributed free of charge, mainly to children, on various islands in the archipelago.
It should be noted that a new sand drawing (a traditional cultural practice recognised by UNESCO as part of the intangible cultural heritage) has been created especially for the occasion in the form of a sheep (sipsip) by Edgar Hinge of the Vanuatu National Cultural Centre. This drawing is featured on the cover of the book.
