Kuna  (2024)

A great collaboration with the Alliance Française de Panama

The Alliance Française de Panama has produced an original translation of Saint-Exupéry's masterpiece in Kuna, the language of the indigenous people of the Comarca Guna Yala. This people are spread across a myriad of heavenly islands from north-east Panama to Colombia.

The official launch took place on 25 June 2024 at Panama's National Library in the presence of the Minister and Deputy Minister of Culture. Guests were treated to a dramatised reading of an extract from the book by Panama's indigenous theatre group.

On this occasion, the Jean-Marc Probst Foundation for the Little Prince and P.I.A.F Solutions were warmly thanked. The Guna community was praised for its excellent translation work, designer Arnold Patrick Díaz Infante for highlighting the Mola (a textile art form and expression of Gunas women), the Panamanian Ministry of Culture for creating the audio book, Panama City Council and the Hombre de la Mancha publishing house for their support, and the French Embassy in Panama for its logistical support in distributing 1,500 copies to schools and libraries in the Guna territory.
