The translation of Le Petit Rince into Nepalbhasha, which was the official language of Nepal under the Malla dynasty until the 18th century, was made possible thanks to an efficient collaboration with Niva Shrestha, the translator's daughter.

Nepalbhasha is a Tibeto-Burman language, whose kinship with other languages of the family is controversial. It has been written since the 12th century. The alphabet most commonly used for this language today is Devanagari.

On the book's release, three literary critics gave their thoughts on the book's translation, as the story of The Little Prince is totally new to Bhasa culture.

The translator, Gyan Bahadur Shrestha, has sent 250 books to literary organizations, which will distribute them to their members and literary enthusiasts. He also distributed books to students in classes 8, 9 and 10 and to teachers at the Jagat Sundar Bwonekuthi school, where Nepal Bhasa is taught.

Several students and teachers from Shree Sankhu Basic School and Modern Newa English School also received books. And the distribution is far from over...
